What is editorial wedding photography?

By blending fly-on-the-wall reportage with relaxed, spontaneous portraiture, Ian is able to tell the story of your big day in much the same way that he’d shoot a story for a magazine or newspaper. It’s something he calls the editorial approach to wedding photography. Using small discreet cameras, Ian shoots authentic images of events as they unfold, but isn’t afraid to pose a portrait or group shot in your amazing venue when he sees the opportunity.

The result is a blend of pictures that will bring memories flooding back for the rest of your lives.

Reportage-style photojournalism

Ian loves to blend in, capturing the big moments as well as the smaller details that often go unnoticed. He uses small cameras that are quiet and discreet – you won’t see flashes in your ceremony, or hear beeps and clicks at the wrong time.

Relaxed, spontaneous portraiture

Ian is known for putting his subjects at ease and showing them at their best. He will let your personality shine through in his portraits, and picks locations that make the most of the amazing venue that you’ve chose for your ceremony.

Kind words

We loved Ian’s photography to begin with, but he sat down with us both and accommodated the style and types of photos we wanted. He fitted in so well at our wedding because he takes great photos and is such a genuinely nice guy.

Ian provided beautiful photos that captured the atmosphere of our wedding. Both of us can feel awkward posing for photos, but Ian was relaxed and professional allowing for natural and unforced photos. We were so happy to have Ian as our wedding day photographer.
